Our regular season runs from late June until the first week of September. The prime fishing season is from early July to late August.

Fall Salmon Fishing Trips in Newfoundland

Newfoundland is know for great Atlantic Canada salmon. In the cooler weather of mid-September to mid-October the fall run of salmon make their bid for headwaters of Gander River. These fish are very feisty and rise well. So you can be sure our fall season trip packages will provide you with all the excitement of landing big ones!

The Equipment

We suggest an eight-to ten-foot fly rod and 6-9 weight floating lines with at least 100 yards of backing. We use wet and dry flies in sizes 6-10. If you have wading boots you can bring them, but they're not required to fish from the boats, just the shoreline.
Remember your camera. You'll have plenty of wilderness "photo opps." Make sure you throw a warm sweater in with your personal kit. We supply fishing licenses, rain gear, and flotation jackets. Our operation is fully licensed and insured.

At your request, we'll supply any equipment you need so, if you forget anything, rest assured you'll still be able to tackle the river well prepared for an unforgettable fishing adventure.

Guides

Whether you choose to fish from shore or from a river boat you'll have your own personal licensed guide* as you cast for wild Atlantic salmon and brook trout. Your guide can give you advice on fishing techniques.(*Guiding available 1:1 or shared 2:1)

Casting Techniques

Coming to the Gander River Lodge for salmon fishing in Newfoundland, and you or a companion are new to the sport or perhaps a bit rusty? Our experienced guides can assist you in proper casting techniques and always ready to help. Our goal is to make your salmon fishing trip in Newfoundland relaxing and fun. The way is should be!

Transportation

Our trip package includes transportation from George’s Point Wharf Gander Bay to the Camp via the Gander River Boats.
Whether you're coming from another part of Canada, or abroad, we would be happy to assist with your airline reservations to Gander Newfoundland.

Rates and Deposits for Fishing 2007:

Species:	Atlantic Salmon and Brook Trout

Rates:	Daily $450 (US) per person, licence fees extra, This 2:1 Guiding Plan is $ 800/day for two people Note: Daily rate is for a 24-hour day. (For example, Tuesday noon to Wednesday noon is a 1-day charge.) OR 3 day trip-$1295 per person, 2:1 Guiding $2195 for 2 people OR Weekly-$2295 (US) per person for 6 nights and 7 days fishing, licence fees extra. 2:1 Guiding $3600 for 2 people. (For example, Saturday noon to the following Saturday noon is 7 days.)

Access:	Air to Gander; drive to Gander Bay; riverboat to camp

Accommodates:	10-12

Package includes:	Accommodations Hearty home cooked meals prepared by full time chef A guide to client ratio 1:1, you have a boat and driver each day or (2:1 guiding optional) On the 2:1 plan you have a shared boat and driver each day. The rate for the 2:1 Guiding Plan is $ 800/day for two people. Transportation from/to Gander Airport Storage/packaging of fish for travel Use of rain gear with built in flotation Use of fishing equipment and field clothes as required All packages sunject to the Harmonized Sales Tax (HST). Your maximum tax rebate is allowed up front in the prices as quoted.
Amenities:	Hot/cold running water Electricity, cellular telephone, fridge and freezer Double occupancy bedrooms, with bedding, towels, soap and shampoo supplied. All guest bedrooms have private bathrooms with showers.
Not included:	Personal gear, wading boots, fishing licences and trip cancellation insurance.

Other Information:	Fishing licences for Atlantic Canada salmon and trout and fly fishing instruction available at camp. Canoeing and sightseeing trips available.
A 50% deposit is required to reserve space.
